The OvisLink Xpresso 1608 meets the immediate bandwidth requirement for small and medium-sized companies and branch offices which require an affordable, reliable and easy-to-use LAN solution. The Xpresso switches represent the newest generation in Ethernet switching technology by supporting both 10Mbps and 100Mbps speed and half or full duplex transmission modes on the same port. By using standard auto-negotiation, OvisLink provides a cost-effective way of integrating legacy 10Mbps segments with 100Mbps fast Ethernet networks and an ideal solution for extending the distance between two 100Mbps network segments. Taking full advantage of fast Ethernet application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC), The Xpresso 1608 delivers the power of 100Mbps switching at a very aggressive price. It is equipped with 8 auto-negotiating ports that allow operation at either 100Mpbs or 10Mbps when in half duplex mode, or 200Mpbs or 20Mpbs when in full duplex mode.

The Xpresso 1608 also offers FX fiber-optic ports for distance requirements longer than 100 meters. One version accommodates eight 100BASE-FX ports, while a second accommodates six 100BASE-FX ports with two 10/100BASE-TX ports. The third Xpresso 1608 model version supports two 100BASE-FX ports with six 10/100BASE-TX ports.
