Hotel Sample Project
Hotel Project using
Ether-FSH2500F
Project Objective:
To network all the rooms in a 8 storey
hotel building. Each floor has 24 rooms. All the rooms must be able to share
internet connection, servers, printer, and fax services. However, each room
must be in a separate VLAN to prevent unauthorized access from others. VLAN
also limits the broadcast traffic and enhances the network
performance.

Floor 1 to
8: On each floor, an Ether-FSH2500F will be used.
Connection
to the Rooms: Ether-FSH2500F supports
"Per-Port VLAN mode" which allows each port(room) to be in its own VLAN group.
Making unauthorized access impossible.
Connection to the Central Equipment
Room: Switches on each floor are connected
to the "Central Equipment Room" through the 100Base-FX module(port 25) on the
Ether-FSH2500F. Fiber optic connections are virtually immune from
electro-magnetic interferences. |
Connections
from the Rooms: All the 100Base-FX connections from the Ether-FSH2500F on
each floor are connected to the Ether-FSH1602G Gigabit switch in the central
equipment room. The fiber optic connections are converted back to UTP
connections through VX200-MSC Media Converter.
The Backbone Switch: Ether-FSH1602G is
powerfully equipped with 12MB memory, 16K MAC Table, and 9.6Gbps throughput. It
also supports VLAN & Trunking. Shared
