- RJ9 connector and RJ9 jack
RJ9 connector is a modular 4P4C connector. RJ9 connector is normally used for telephone handset and telephone headset. It looks like the regular telephone cord connector RJ11, but slightly smaller. The width of RJ9 connector is 7.7mm while the telephone cord connector is 9.65mm. (Please see picture at the right.)
RJ9 jack is the jack for RJ9 connector. It is used on telephone to connect telephone handset and telephone headset. (Please see picture at the right.)
- 2.5mm Headset Jack / 2.5mm Headset Connector / phone with 2.5mm headset jack
2.5mm headset jack is a 2.5mm diameter port for telephone headset. It is normally located at the right hand side of the phone. It has 3 conductors inside. 2.5mm headset jack is normally used for small office phones, home office phones and cordless phones’ handset.

- Does 2.5mm headset work with Smartphones?
No, it is not compatible. Smartphones have 3.5mm headset jack, not 2.5mm.
- Does 2.5mm headset work with computers?
No, it is not compatible.
Most of the laptop computers have 3.5mm headset jack, not 2.5mm.
Some computers may have 2.5mm jack, but with 4 conductors, not 3.

- 3.5mm Headset Jack and a 3.5mm Headset Connector
A 3.5mm headset jack is a 3.5mm diameter port for headset. It is used on some computers and some cell phones.
A 3.5mm connector is a small round pin connector in 3.5mm diameter, with 3 black rings. It connects headset to older smartphone models, like iPhone 6 and before.
- Quick Disconnect
Call Center headsets have a flat connector at the middle of the headset cord. Headset user may hold two sides of the connector pull straightly to disconnect the headpiece from the bottom cord and left the bottom cord connected with the device. While the headpiece is disconnected from the bottom cord, there will be no audio on the headset, but call does not disconnected. When the headset user connect the headpiece back with the bottom cord, the audio will be back to the headset.
- Training Adapter
Call Center headset training adapter is designed to connect 2 headsets to one phone for training purposes. Both headsets’ speakers and microphone can work at the same time. There are mute buttons for each of the headsets connected to the adapter. The trainer may press the corresponding mute buttons to mute any one of the connected headsets anytime.
- Dialpad Telephone or Headset Telephone
A dialpad telephone or headset telephone is a telephone with telephone keypad, but without the regular hand receiver. It uses a headset instead of a hand receiver. It connects to regular phone line or VoIP adapter. It’s usually used in call center settings.
- Dual Ear and Single Ear Interchangeable Headset
OvisLink designed new dual ear headsets with a unique feature. It allows user to mute one of the speakers to use a dual ear headset as a single ear headset anytime.
There is a mute button on the speaker that does not attached with the microphone. Press the mute button, the speaker will be muted and the headset functions as a single ear. Press the mute button again to un-mute the speaker and the speakers on user’s both ears will work as normal.
